Quality improvement framework - EFQM

The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) was founded in 1988 to promote higher standards of management through shared knowledge and mutual recognition. Established by leaders from fourteen companies, during the last 21 years, EFQM has been extended, as enthusiasm for its values and frameworks grew in the public sector, into small and medium sized enterprises, and to other organisations around the world.

Today, EFQM’s membership base of 600 organisations actively exchanges experience on issues ranging from quality and risk management, to leadership and supplier development programmes.

European & UK excellence awards

The European Excellence Award is Europe's most prestigious award for organisational excellence, in addition to this is the UK Excellence Award launched in 1984.  Both recognise industry leaders with an undisputable track record of success in turning strategy into action and continuously improving their organisation's performance.

Organisations that win an Excellence Award demonstrate excellence in all areas of operation

with all applicants appreciating the enormous benefits gained from the application process. This

is certainly a case where taking part is just as important as winning.

"There is no doubt that applying for the UK Excellence award is a challenge but when things are not easy, you need to look at what you do, how you do it and who you do it for"

HRH The Princess Royal - Patron of the British Quality Foundation, UK

The EFQM Excellence Award is the highest form of recognition an organisation can receive

because it comes from its own peers.  Top executives from leading businesses and public

service organisations study and visit the candidates, and after a gruelling examination select

the few outstanding achievers.

Exceptional performance in a specific area or subject is rewarded with a Prize.  If a true role

model is identified, or an organisation outshines all the others as the example to learn from

and to aspire to, they receive the ultimate recognition, the Excellence Award.

EFQM Awards are available at National and European level and Director, Józefa Fawcett,

is qualified as an Assessor for both the EEA (European Excellence Award) and NQA (National

Quality Award in UK).
