Sensemaking service

People pattern their working relationships in clusters resulting in 'systems' of self-organisation and storytelling and from these we can learn something of great value.

But why would we want to?

Business problems can, at times, be complex and complicated and traditional change management approaches can sometimes fail to make a sustainable difference.

Surveys conducted within organisations produce statistical data, which, when taken out of context, don't always make sense, simply reinforcing or reflecting the prevaling culture and general climate.  Attempting to manage in high levels of uncertainty using ordered models and applications often fails to provide the insight that is required to take action and solicit change.

We are fortunate to work within the Cognitive Edge network, which focuses on using rejuvenating management practices in organisations and teams that are faced with intractable problems or uncertain and complex situations.

We help organisations scan their environment using narrative to make sense of a situation so that meaningful decisions can be made about quality improvements.

The SenseMaker Suite by Cognitive Edge

Having the ability to see the world through the 'eyes' of customers, clients or the workforce and then being able to interpret large numbers of ideas and multiple perspectives is now possible using the very latest Cognitive Edge SENSEMAKER SUITE

The software indexes, filters and stores opinions electronically and then generates reports, presenting information about patterns and trends.

When analysed, this can provide valuable knowledge that enables an organisation to increase its ability to solve problems, make decisions, be creative and enhance quality improvement intitiatives.

In using the Cognitive Edge 'narrative capture' techniques, storytelling, sensemaking and lots of 'hexagons', we at OFQT are able to gather numerous views and opinions in an objective and non-invasive way allowing the organisation or service to see issues with fresh new eyes.

Working with Cognitive Edge methods can be summed up in the following quote:

"For far too long, we have been under the spell of 'manage, measure and control' - wouldn't it be great if all manager, decision makers, consultants, facilitators and trainers, worked instead with interaction, emergence and self-realisation?"

Ron Donaldson, 2009
